Claudia Heinze

Design Foundations

After my Abitur in 2006, I completed an apprenticeship in the field of media design in my hometown Dresden. I worked both in a small print shop and also for a youth magazine. During this time, I was able to acquire the necessary design tools for working with different kinds of digital media as well as with classic print media.

Cross-cultural Interface Design

In 2008, I moved to the small town Weimar for a subsequent study program with focus on interface design at Bauhaus-Universität. During my bachelor and master studies, I spent several years abroad – for an Erasmus semester in Northern Ireland, for an internship in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for a study trip to Ethiopia, for my master in China, and for several private trips. Thereby, I learned how culture influences design and thereby the user experience . 2014 during my master thesis, I worked for the international company Dräger and was concerned with the subject of cultural impact on interface design as well as the challenges of product development for international markets.

User Experience Consulting

Since 2014, I have been working as a consultant and designer at the user experience agency Userlutions in Berlin, supporting the product and service development of small to large businesses from first user research to conception and testing to final design.

#1 User Research.

Form follows function
user research.
User experience is more than just usability – a few buzzwords: Interviews, focus groups, surveys, expert workshops, task analysis, competitive analysis, personas, mental models ...

#2 Conception and Testing.

Simple and effective –
my mantra and method.
Wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes simplify team feedback and enable the involvement of users already in the early product development to uncover usability issues and prevent extra costs.

#3 Design and Testing. Again.

Pragmatic –
in thinking and in style.
High-fidelity prototypes serve not only for testing but also as interactive visuals for clients and other stakeholders and as a pragmatic alternative to text-heavy specifications for developers.
